Returning to Russia: The Potential of Compatriots for Regional Development

14 Jun , 14:30–16:00
Protecting the Population and Quality of Life as the Main Priority
Pavilion F, conference hall F3

In the current circumstances, Russia is facing significant internal challenges, particularly in terms of demographics. One potential solution for promoting population growth is through migration from countries that are unfriendly towards Russia, by attracting individuals who are loyal to Russia and share its values. Another potential source of migrants could be Russian compatriots, many of whom have faced instances of Russophobia and are contemplating the idea of returning to their homeland. How can the process of moving to Russia be made easier? What modern tools can be used to maintain contact with fellow compatriots? How should the "Russian card” work, and what steps need to be taken to establish it? How can Russian regions be made to engage and become interested in this? What are the most effective foreign practices in repatriation and preventing brain drain, with an emphasis on attracting and retaining talent rather than losing it?
