Water is more precious than gold. This phrase is increasingly echoed by environmental experts worldwide. Freshwater scarcity has been identified as one of the major threats humanity will face in the near future. Already, the lack of water resources is causing social crises, interstate conflicts, and hindering the development of critical sectors of the economy: industry, energy, and agriculture. Although the African continent is home to up to 9% of the world’s freshwater resources, their uneven distribution and high levels of pollution deprive much of the continent’s population of access to quality, safe water supplies. For these reasons, the rational use of water resources should become one of the priorities of public policy in any country. How can an effective management mechanism be developed to ensure the rational use of water resources? What measures should be taken to provide the population with quality drinking water? What technologies are being applied in Russia to solve these problems? What methods are used to assess groundwater potential? How can a balance be maintained between the economic development of the country and the rational use of water resources?

Born 24 July 1972 in Havana (Cuba).
Graduated from MGIMO MID RF (1995, Moscow), the Montevideo Institute of Foreign Languages (1991, Uruguay), and finished BBC courses (1995, London).
Career:
1990–1993: Komsomolskaya Pravda. Trainee, scholarship holder, correspondent-intern in the department of science and education.
1993–1995: Moscow News. International department special correspondent. In parallel, Moscow correspondent of the Uruguay El Observador Económico and the Argentinian La Razón, as well as Russian State Duma Latin America expert.
Since 1995: Rossiya (RTR) TV channel, including:
1995–1996: Vesti special correspondent (including during the First Chechen War).
1996–2001: Bureau Chief in London.
First broadcast as presenter on 11 September 2001 (day of the terrorist acts in the USA).
2001–2003: presenter of evening Vesti.
2003–2007: presenter of Vesti Nedeli, Deputy Director, Directorate of information programmes.
Since 2008: presenter of the Vesti on Saturday programme, Deputy Director of Rossiya TV channel.
Author of a multitude of documentary films: Secret of Three Oceans, Constitutional Practice, Duma Thinking, Right to Right, Heavy Oil, Another Coal, The Caribbean Crisis. An Incomprehensible Story, Nazarbayev’s Line, etc.
Author of the books: Forgotten Allies in World War II (2012) and Fidel. Football. Falklands (2008).
One of the main spheres of his professional activity is interviewing heads of state. In particular, in Latin America: Chavez (Venezuela), Ortega (Nicaragua), Correa (Ecuador), Morales (Bolivia), Sanguinetti (Uruguay), Bachelet (Chile) and so on.
By order of the Russian President, awarded the Order of Friendship, the medals 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg and 1000th Anniversary of Kazan (2005). Was the finalist and winner of the TEFI awards many times.

In 2003 graduated from Moscow Academy of Entrepreneurship with Moscow Government with specialty in Jurisprudence. Awarded with the qualification of the Lawyer.
2000 – 2007 worked as a Leading Legal Adviser, Acting Assistant Director General for Legal Issues, Acting Head of Legal Department, Head of Legal Department, Deputy Director General for Legal Issues and Corporate Safety of LLC Amur Coal, Raichikhinsk city.
In 2007 was assigned to a position of the Director of CJSC Russian Coal’ branch in Gukovo city.
From 2008 - Director of the branch of JSC Russian Coal, in Blagoveshchensk.
2009 - 2010 – held position of the Director General of LLC Amur Coal, Raichikhinsk.
On February 2, 2011 – assigned to a position of First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Infrastructure of Amur Region.
From February 23, 2011, took a position of Minister of Housing and Utilities Infrastructure of Amur Region.
On September 14, 2014, won the elections and became the Mayor of Blagoveshchensk City by receiving 38.68% of votes.
On March 25, 2015, was appointed as a temporary Acting Governor of Amur Region by the order of V.V.Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
On September 20, 2015 started to work as a Governor of Amur Region.
On May 18, 2018 was appointed as Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East. On November 10, 2020, he was appointed Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.

Ksenia Sukhotina is a graduate of Lomonosov Moscow State University and Moscow International Higher Business School MIRBIS. She holds an MBA in Strategic Management and an ICM Certificate from the UK.
Ksenia has held executive positions at Russian international consulting companies and headed a centre at Moscow International Higher Business School MIRBIS.
Ksenia has worked in the nuclear industry since 2010. In 2015–2017, she served as First Deputy CEO for Strategy and Organizational Development at Atomenergomash (AEM), Rosatom’s machine-building division. She has served as CEO of United Thermal Power Company (OTEK) since January 2018, and in July 2018, she was appointed CEO of Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions (RIR).
