Science is a truly active field, as testified by the constant flow of new discoveries, developments, and technological solutions, which continue to raise the bar for new achievements. Every year, scientists around the world are making breakthroughs capable of improving life on earth and changing our perception of reality. Each event of this kind serves as a reminder of the incredible things the human mind is capable of. New information technologies and advances in artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, and biotechnology are once again promising to fundamentally change our way of life. People have enormous belief in the potential of science to solve if not all, then a great many problems facing humanity. Indeed, scientific advancements can help greatly improve quality of life. Any sustainable development model that meets the needs of the current generation without adversely affecting the next generation envisages a major role played by science. Are there any limits as far as development is concerned? Where will we discover the boundaries of possibility to lie in the near future? To what degree are concepts such as growth and development compatible with concerns surrounding the environment, the economy, and society? What influence do external factors exert? And does science really hold the answers to all our questions?

Maxim Safonov is an international affairs expert in economics, and a prominent specialist in the banking services area. He has worked for a long time on the practical problems of developing banking and non-banking financial organizations, located in Russia and abroad. He has several decades of publications on the issues of national economic security, the regulation of financial systems, and anti-crisis management using financial organizations.

Was born in 1948 in the Smolensk Region.
In 1973 he graduated from the Moscow Mendeleyev Chemical-Engineering Institute, in 1980 - Economic Faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Doctor of Science in Economics.
1975-1982 - Machine Shop Manager; Deputy Director; Chief Engineer of the Karacharovo Factory of Plastics.
1982-1987 - Chief Engineer, First Deputy Director General of Polymer Scientific and Production Association.
1987-1988 - Head of Technical Department; Head of the Main Department of Science and Technology of the Moscow City Executive Committee.
1990 - Chairman of the Moscow Municipal Committee for Science and Technology.
In 1993 together with a group of associates Mr. Evtushenkov established Sistema Joint-Stock Financial Corporation.
At present he is the principal shareholder, Chairman of the Sistema JSFC Board of Directors and Chairman of the Strategy Committee of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Evtushenkov is an active member of a number of government commissions for improvement of competitiveness of the Russian industry, development of high technologies and innovations, science and culture; he is the Chairman of the Russian side of the Russian-Arab Business Council; a member of the National Council on corporate governance, a member of the management boards of the main associations of entrepreneurs in Russia - the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian Chamber of Industry and Commerce,
Mr. Evtushenkov is also the Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the Fund for Development of the State Russian Museum "Friends of the Russian Museum" and member of the Board of Trustees of the Sistema Charitable Foundation.

Born in 1972. Siroj Loikov graduated from the Tashkent State Economics University where he specialized in international economic relations; he also holds a business management bachelor`s degree from Nottingham Trent University (UK).
Between 1996 and 2005, he held various management positions in British American Tobacco – both at the company`s headquarters in London and its representative offices in Uzbekistan and Russia. Between 2005 and 2008, Mr. Loikov served as Human Resources Director at Leman Commodities S.A. (Ukraine); in 2008-2009 was responsible for human resources development at Metinvest Holding.
From 2009 to 2011, he worked as Human Resources Director at CJSC Russian Standard. In 2011, Siroj Loikov was appointed CJSC PhosAgro AG Human Resources Director and between 2013 and 2018 he was Human Resources Director
Member of the Management Board of PJSC PhosAgro since 2013.
From January 2018 to March 2020, Siroj Loikov held the position of Deputy CEO of PhosAgro. In March 2020, he was appointed First Deputy CEO of PhosAgro.

Alexey Mordashov

Born in 1965, Alexey Mordashov has been working for Severstal since 1988. He started his career as a senior economist, becoming Chief Financial Officer in 1992. In December 1996, he was appointed as Severstal’s Chief Executive Officer. Between 2002 and 2006 he served as CEO of Severstal Group and was Chairman of Severstal’s Board of Directors. Since the introduction of the new structure of corporate governance in December 2006 Mr. Mordashov has been CEO of Severstal. From December 2014 till June 2015 Alexey served as CEO of AO "Severstal Management" - managing organization of PAO Severstal. In May he was elected as Chairman of Severstal’s Board of Directors.

Maxim Protasov

Born: 1972 in Moscow. Graduated from the Economics Faculty of Moscow State University and completed postgraduate research at the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 1999 through 2005: member of the Supervisory Council of the National Securities Market Association, of the expert council of the Financial Markets Committee under the State Duma of the Russian Federation. 2011 through 2015: held the position of Chairman of the Management Board of the National Association of Producers and Suppliers of Foodstuffs Rusprodsoyuz. June 2015: appointed head of the Autonomous Non-commercial Organization Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo), set up by Russian Government Directive. Is an active participant in many expert organisations, in particular Open Government, Expert Council of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, working group of the Public Council of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on foodstuff quality, member of the Commission for Supervising the Code of Fair Practices. Married with three children.

Ashok Ram Mohan

President for Affiliates in Russia and Belarus, Philip Morris International (PMI)

Mr. Ashok Ram Mohan started his PMI career in 1996 as project analyst in Hong Kong, which was followed by several job positions with increasing responsibilities in the company’s Finance, Strategic Planning and Business Development functions.
In 2010, he was appointed Managing Director of Reduced Risk Products in Switzerland and led development of business model and global commercial strategies for portfolio of novel products.
In 2014, he was appointed Commercial Director Reduced Risk Products in Japan and in 3 years successfully transformed PM Japan business by switching over 3 M adult smokers to reduced risk product IQOS.
Since August 2017, Ashok has been appointed President of PMI affiliates in Russia and Belarus.
Mr. Ram Mohan was born in 1970 in India. In 1990, he graduated from the College of Engineering, Madras, India with a degree in Industrial engineering. In 1996, he gained his MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines, holds a CFA charter.
Married, two children.

Research interests and achievements:
plasma physics, femtosecond optics, theory of nonlinear wave phenomena, biophotonics. Fundamental works on the theory of nonlinear interaction of ultrashort optical fields with matter, the study of new physical phenomena in femtosecond optics and physics of ultrastrong fields, the creation of unique sources of ultrashort pulse laser radiation. Under his leadership, the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences established a modern Centre for Femtosecond Optics, including the most powerful in Russia, and one of the most powerful in the world, petawatt laser complexes based on parametric amplification of light, developed new ways of using femtosecond radiation for materials processing and medicine. Academician Sergeev is the author of the project of creating the world's most powerful subexawatt laser XCELS, which is included by the Russian Government among 6 Megascience-class projects to be implemented in the current decade. Academician Sergeev heads an interdepartmental team of physical and medical scientists who have develop physical principles and implement in clinical conditions methods of optical tomography of biological tissues, including optical coherence tomography, optical diffusion tomography, diffusion fluorescence tomography, ultramicroscopy.
