Business programme

Sustainable development goals set standard and universal baseline both for government and business. Technologies and innovations developed and implemented by Russian and European companies directly facilitate reaching of such goals as “good health and well-being”, “affordable and clean energy”, “industry, innovation, and infrastructure” and contribute to many others. At the same time more and more companies set ambitious individual goals in ESG agenda, e.g. decrease carbon emission. In such spheres as wind energy Russian and European business already have strong background of cooperation, others like digital health, green transport and hydrogen create opportunities for the nearest future. How technologies of the fourth industrial revolution could contribute to the SDG? Which fields of industrial, scientific, and technological cooperation between Russia and Europe would be most beneficial for both parties? Could business serve as an example of best practices in sustainable development for public and civil society institutions? How to get access to green finance?

Johan has a wide and diverse experience in senior leadership roles in multinational companies in Russia and Europe. Before joining Schneider Electric he held the position of VP Europe, Eastern Region (including Russia/CIS) at Emerson Process Management since 2009. He began his professional career in the early 90s, after graduating with honors from University of Ghent, from College of Europe and from Pushkin Institute of Russian Language and Culture. A large part of his career has been spent in Alcatel. He started as Legal Counsel and moved over years to strategic and leadership positions in the CIS and Central Europe regions. He also spent a few years in an EBRD investment fund in Kazakhstan which generated substantial capital gains. Since June 2016 – President for Russia and CIS at Schneider Electric.

Alexey Mordashov

Born in 1965, Alexey Mordashov has been working for Severstal since 1988. He started his career as a senior economist, becoming Chief Financial Officer in 1992. In December 1996, he was appointed as Severstal’s Chief Executive Officer. Between 2002 and 2006 he served as CEO of Severstal Group and was Chairman of Severstal’s Board of Directors. Since the introduction of the new structure of corporate governance in December 2006 Mr. Mordashov has been CEO of Severstal. From December 2014 till June 2015 Alexey served as CEO of AO "Severstal Management" - managing organization of PAO Severstal. In May he was elected as Chairman of Severstal’s Board of Directors.

Simone Mori

Chairman of Elettricità Futura, the Italian Association of Electricity Companies
Simone Mori is Enel Group’s Head of Europe and Euro-Mediterranean Affairs and Head of Enel's European Union Affairs Department.
In May 2016 he was appointed Chairman of the Italian electric energy association Assoelettrica, and he promoted its merge with Assorinnovabili, the renewable energy Association, which led to the creation of Elettricità Futura in April 2017.
He previously served in several capacities within the Enel Group. He was Head of Regulatory Affairs, Environment and Innovation, with responsibility for regulatory issues in Italy and abroad, antitrust and environmental policies, in addition to being in charge of Carbon Strategy.
He has served on the board of companies belonging to the Enel Group both in Italy and overseas.
He is a member of the Technical Energy Group and the Technical Europe Group at Confindustria (the Italian business association) and a member of the General Assembly and the Executive Committee of OME (Observatoire Méditerranéen de l'Energie).
Before being appointed Chairman of Assoelettrica, which is now known as Elettricità Futura, he was the organisation’s Deputy Chairman.
He has also served as Chairman of the Energy Association Assolombarda, Chairman of the Energy section of the Industrial Union of Rome and as a member of the Energy Commission of Confindustria.
He is a board member of Bruegel and a Senior Transatlantic Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
He also lectures in Economics and Management of Energy Sources at the La Sapienza and LUISS Guido Carli Universities in Rome.

Born December 3, 1953. Graduated with honours from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO - University) and joined diplomatic service in 1976. Started his diplomatic career in Greece, then worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow and in Cyprus. Served as Deputy Head of the Russian delegation to the OSCE in Vienna (Austria), Deputy High Representative for Bosnia Peace Implementation in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Russian Special Representative for Cyprus and the Balkans. In 2002 appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Since 2005 has occupied a post of Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community in Brussels (Belgium). Conducted analytical research on European security, OSCE, Russia-EU and Russia-NATO relations, Mediterranean, Balkans, problems of Cyprus and Northern Ireland, peace-keeping operations.

Markus Ederer

Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation

Markus Ederer was born in Germany in 1957. He graduated in Law at the University of Passau. Since October 2017, Markus Ederer has been Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation.
Between January 2014 until October 2017, he held the post of State Secretary at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From January 2011 to January 2014, Markus Ederer was in Beijing as Ambassador of the European Union to China and Mongolia. From December 2005 to December 2010, he was the Head of Policy Planning in the German Federal Foreign Office.
His career in the German Foreign Office started in 1990 when he was the Personal Secretary to Minister of State Helmut Schäfer. He then went on to Moscow where he served in the Economic Department of the German Embassy. In 1993 he returned to Germany where he served in the Press Department and later became Deputy Spokesperson for the German Foreign Office.
In 1999 he moved to Brussels where he took up the post of Head of Cabinet of the Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe. In April 2002 he became the Director of Political/Economic Assessment in the Federal Intelligence Service in Germany.
Markus Ederer holds a Doctoral Degree in International Law (University of Passau) and a Master of Laws degree (University of Miami).

Professional Experience

Ilya Polyakov joined the Paris team of Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking in 2001 and since then he took different positions in the department of natural resources. In October 2010, Mr. Polyakov was appointed a senior banker. In 2011, he was appointed a global co-director for the mining and smelting industry in the department of natural resources and energy development in addition to his duties as a senior banker that included global client relations and strategic consulting of clients in metal and mining industry in Russia and CIS countries.

In February 2013, Mr. Polyakov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Rosbank on corporate business. He headed the block of client relations and investment banking in Russia and CIS countries of Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking. In September 2016, Mr. Polyakov took the position of the First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Rosbank. In addition to the existing duties, he headed the division of investment and banking services as well as operations in the capital market and securities servicing.

In May 2018, Mr. Polyakov was appointed Chairman of the Management Board of Rosbank.

Aleksandar Ruzevic

Aleksandar joined Coca-Cola HBC in 1998 as a sales representative. He was then appointed Commercial Director for Serbia and Montenegro. In 2010 Aleksandar joined the Ukrainian team in the role of Commercial Director, which he successfully led for four years. In 2014 Aleksandar took the position of General Director in Macedonia. In 2016 Aleksandar became general director in Serbia and Montenegro. During his tenure, Aleksandar ensured Coca-Cola HBC's leadership in the soft drink category. Under Mr. Ruzevic's leadership, Coca-Cola HBC in Serbia has also won the Andrew David Cup on multiple occasions. Mr. Ruzevic has in-depth market knowledge and vast professional experience in one of the key markets for Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, Russian Federation. Aleksandar Ruzevic speaks Russian and has a degree in Law from the University of Belgrade.

Alexander N. Shokhin was born 25 December, 1951.
Graduated from the Moscow State University in 1974.
Doctor of Economics, Professor.
Twice, in 1991-1994 and in 1998, Mr. Shokhin held the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
In 1991-1994 he also held positions of Minister of Labor, Minister of Economics, Chairman of the Russian Agency for International Cooperation and Development.
From 1994 to 2002 – Deputy of the State Duma, with the posts of First Vice Chairman of the State Duma, leader of the Duma party bloc 'Our Home is Russia', Head of the Duma Committee on Credit Institutions and Capital Markets.
Since 1995 - President of the National Research University – Higher School of Economics.
From 2002 to 2006 – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Investment Group "Renaissance Capital".
From 2005 to 2009 – member of the RF Public Chamber.
Since 2005 – President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Mr. Shokhin is a member of several deliberative bodies under the Russian President and Government.
