Today, there are more than a billion people around the world living with obesity, 159 million of whom are children, and this figure is constantly trending upward. The situation in Russia is consistent with global trends: more than 45 million of the country’s residents suffer from obesity. Roughly 10% of them are morbidly obese, while more than 30% are overweight, and the number of such people increase each year. Problems with excess weight lead to the development of dangerous conditions and non-communicable diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, which are the main cause of death around the world: heart attack, stroke, diabetes, oncology, and diminished reproductive functions. Excess weight is not only an aesthetic problem, but a serious metabolic disorder, a source of increased risk of premature death, and a real threat to the health of the nation, which, in turn, causes economic and social damage to the state. However, doctors do not always pay proper attention to the treatment of obesity, as they take it as a whole with other diseases instead of viewing it as a separate disease. How can we change the attitude towards the problem of obesity among the medical community? How can we promote knowledge about a healthy lifestyle and the prevention of excess weight among the population? Why should obesity be recognized as a socially significant disease? What innovative approaches to the treatment of excess body weight exist today?

Oksana M. graduated from the MMA named after I. M. Sechenov in 1992. From 1992 to 1997 she worked in the intensive care unit of the clinic of internal diseases of MMA named after I. M. Sechenov. From 1997 to 2015 she worked at the Department of internal medicine propaedeutics First Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov, where she was promoted from Department assistant to Professor. In 2013, she was Awarded the Russian government prize in the field of education. In 2017 she was appointed to the position of Director of "NMRC PM" of the Ministry of health of Russia.
Professor Drapkina combines ongoing clinical work with research activities.
Awards: diploma of the Ministry of health of Russia, Laureate of the Russian Government prize in education, badge " excellence in health care».
There were defended 16 PhD theses and 1 dissertation for the degree of doctor of medical Sciences under the scientific guidance of O. M. Drapkina, more than 600 scientific article were published in domestic and foreign journals, 7 monographs, 10 textbooks

Yury Zhulev

President, Russian Hemophilia Society

In 1985, graduated from the school number 856 (Moscow).
In 1991, graduated from the Moscow State Law University.
In 1989, he was elected Vice President of Hemophilia Association (later renamed Hemophilia Society) that was established the same year.
Since 1993, he was the President of the Hemophilia Society.
In 2000, at the founding congress of the Russian Hemophilia Society he was elected its President, and he still holds this position.
In 2002–2004, he was a board member of the European Hemophilia Consortium and member of the World Federation of Hemophilia. He was named ‘Best volunteer’ of the World Federation of Hemophilia for his active work in CIS countries.
At present, he also holds the following positions:
• Co-chairman of the Russian Union of Patients Public Societies;
• Member of Commission for the Disabled under President of the Russian Federation;
• Head of the working group for improvement of the state sociomedical assessment system and monitoring of implementation of decisions made for the Commission for the Disabled under President of the Russian Federation;
• Co-chair of the Council of public agencies for patients’ rights for the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation;
• Deputy Chairman of the Public Council of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation;
• Member of Council of public agencies for patients’ rights for Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare;
• Member of Moscow’s regional department of All-Russia People's Front.
Yury Zhulyov was awarded with an honorary certificate by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, an honorary certificate by the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare and Social Development.

Petr Rodionov

Deputy Chairman of the Council under the Government of the Russian Federation for Trusteeship in the Social Sphere

Born in 1978 in Leningrad.
Education: School of Economics, St. Petersburg State University; internship at Yale University, USA, in 1995–1996.
Pytr Rodionov became the CEO of GEROPHARM in 2001. Under his leadership, the company stepped up to be an efficient business entity and a major player in Russia’s pharmaceutical market, as well as a recognized expert in the professional community.
In 2013–2017 Pyor Rodionov received the Chief of the Year award and the Expert of the Year title (from Expert North-West magazine), entered TOP 250 of Russia’s CEOs and won the Entrepreneur of the Year award (EY) and RBC Award (St. Petersburg).
Pyotr Rodionov is a member of Delovaya Rossiya All Russia Public Organization, Council on Guardianship under the Government of the Russian Federation and Subcommittee on circulation of medicines under the Commission on Healthcare of the Government of the Russian Federation. In 2016 he joined State Duma Committee for biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical industry, as well as Social and Business Council of the Healthcare Strategic Development Project under the Government of the Russian Federation.
