The National Healthcare Project. Battling Non-communicable Diseases in Action

06 Jun , 14:10–15:10
‘Healthy Life’ Programme
Pavilion G, ‘Healthy Life’ Area

Non-communicable diseases account for more than 70% of all deaths around the world and are among the biggest barriers to healthy ageing and longevity. An effective public policy that aims to increase life expectancy must combat the four main causes of death from NCDs: circulatory system diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes. Russia has significant potential to reduce the death rate from non-communicable diseases largely due to the implementation of the national Healthcare project. Will the national project help achieve the global goal of reducing premature mortality from NCDs by one third by 2030? What global practices in fighting NCDs diseases may be beneficial for Russia? Are the coordinated efforts of the state and municipal authorities enough to implement the specialized federal projects? What innovative drugs and breakthrough technologies will ensure the effectiveness of NCD prevention and treatment? What can research centres and business do to contribute to achieving the goal of living past the age of 80?
