Macro-economic and Social Impact of Sport

Sports are a global multi-billion-dollar business, and major international sporting events have historically catalyzed significant infrastructural, social, and economic change. This is not only a chance for a country or city hosting such tournaments to get a reputation as a preferred tourist destination but also a capacity framework for local businesses and a chance to renovate sports facilities. Such events require the highest safety, medical care and entail important challenges to sports security.
ICSS proposes to consider the impact of sports on the economy, exchange views on the following topics:
• The strategic value of sports today,
• Impact of major sports event on the economics and community,
• Sports as a driver of innovation and social development,
• Global and regional transformations in sports.
The speakers will also discuss various investments and costs as an inalienable part of major international sporting events, as well as the economic and social impact of such investments. The outcomes of the "Business Case for the Purity of Sports" by ICSS, UNESCO, and the Global Alliance will be shared at the session. The Business case was designed to prove the political, economic, and social benefits of protecting clean sports, and particularly the return on investment in this sector.
The speakers will also discuss how to utilize sports infrastructure to the benefit social and economic development.
