Private investors are still rather sceptical when they hear the words “investment in the creative industries,” despite the fact that some sectors have demonstrated healthy ROI. Russian cinema and TV, the food industry, music, and fashion are firmly established in terms of their investment attractiveness, and sub-sectors of these industries such as animation and gaming are beginning to attract the attention of investors both at home and abroad. In fact, many of them have consistently demonstrated high export potential. What kinds of projects in the creative industries are investors looking to back? Are there common approaches to investing across different sub-sectors of the creative industries? What areas are foreign investors interested in? What regions and countries are the most attractive in terms of exports today? Has an investment culture in the creative professions emerged?
