THE AIMS AND SCOPE OF REVAMPING A TAX SYSTEM

Russia–Japan Business Roundtable took place as part of SPIEF 2017. The participants discussed different approaches to doing business in Japan and in Russia and expressly agreed on the need to work together. Special attention was paid to the Russian Far East as a region of particular appeal for Japanese entrepreneurs.

THE MISSION OF MULTILATERAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY
The discussion opened with a geopolitical environment agenda. Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Dmitriy Pankin noted the growing number of development banks and the new challenges they were facing. According to Mr. Pankin, banks need to have a clear understanding of which countries offer investment opportunities and which projects are of interest. “Engaging exclusively in financing against government guarantees or guarantees provided by financial institutions is not an option,” he explained.

The Development of the Legal Audio and Video Content Market
The panel session was opened by the International Financial Integration Department Director of International Investment Bank (IIB) Alan Thompson. According to him, the global audio and video content market is demonstrating impressive growth. “The Russian online streaming market has grown by 17%, reaching RUB 74 billion. Positive dynamic is also observed on the audio content market,” Mr. Thompson stated.
