Genetics are currently one of the key tools for a personalized approach to the provision of medical care, ranging from more precise primary measures to prevent and diagnose diseases to effective, efficient treatment based on a person’s individual genetic characteristics, as well as the creation of innovative medicines. The scope of genetic research is growing in Russia and throughout the world each year. At the same time, due to greater competition from domestic and foreign market players, the cost of such research is naturally decreasing, while the state is offering more and more support measures to develop this promising area. However, the regulation of genetic technologies cannot currently keep pace with the rapid development of the industry and the intense growth rates seen on the global market. In what sectors are genetics most widely used today? What scope of genetic research is projected for the next decade? What is stimulating and can further jumpstart this growth? From 1997 to 2015 she worked at the Department of internal medicine propaedeutics First Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov, where she was promoted from Department assistant to Professor. In 2013, she was Awarded the Russian government prize in the field of education. In 2017 she was appointed to the position of Director of "NMRC PM" of the Ministry of health of Russia.
Professor Drapkina combines ongoing clinical work with research activities.

From 2012 to 2015 - Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Moscow Research Center". From May 20, 2015 - Acting Director and then Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Medical Genetics Research Center" (since 2019 - Federal State Budgetary Institution "Academician N.P. Bochkov Medical Genetics Research Center").
His scientific interests include clinic, diagnosis and treatment of inherited diseases, genetics of oncohematological diseases, the role of viruses in carcinogenesis, neonatal screening, and organization of medical genetic services. He is the author of more than 300 publications, 17 manuals and guidelines.
