Alexander Novak invites Turkish delegation to SPIEF 2017

The 14th session of the Intergovernmental Russian–Turkish commission on trade and economic cooperation has taken place. The meeting was co-chaired by Russia’s Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak, and Turkey’s Minister of the Economy and Chair of the Turkish side of the commission, Nihat Zeybekci.

“During talks between the presidents of Russia and Turkey in August, the principle was determined for ties between the countries to be gradually restored. The results of their top-level meeting on October 10 confirmed the serious intention of our countries to strengthen their economic relations,” emphasized Novak as he opened the session.

Novak invited the Turkish delegation, including Zeybekci, to SPIEF 2017.

“I would like to take advantage of the opportunity to invite Turkish companies to participate in the 21st Economic Forum, which will take place in St Petersburg from June 1 to 3, 2017, at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre. We are inviting not only companies, but also the minister and government bodies,” said Novak.

The Russian Energy Minister talked about how, on the back of expert-level talks, the two countries had already agreed the main provisions of an intergovernmental medium-term programme for trade and economic, scientific and technical, and cultural cooperation for 2017–2020.

According to Novak, further cooperation between Russia and Turkey will be facilitated by collaboration on removing the barriers impeding growth in trade between the two.

“I am pleased to say that today we have managed to discuss a wide range of aspects of cooperation between our countries, and to identify problems impeding their further development and set out a path to overcoming them,” Novak concluded.
