The Republic of Kazakhstan Plans to Present a State Assets Privatization Programme at SPIEF 2018

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov met today in Moscow with Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation. They discussed the participation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum on 24–26 May 2018. The parties talked about the idea of organizing a presentation exhibition and a specialized Kazakhstan expo show at the Forum site. The parties also exchanged opinions on holding together a full-fledged session with the Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna Joint Stock Company as a part of the SPIEF 2018 main programme, that will include a presentation of a blueprint for the privatization of Kazakhstani state assets.

Emphasizing the truly strategic nature of the Russian-Kazakh partnership, Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee, noted that Kazakhstan’s extensive participation in the upcoming SPIEF 2018 would support and gather dynamic growth momentum for bilateral relations that already are at an advanced level of cooperation, both in the industrial and interregional senses.

In turn, Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation noted, that “SPIEF has emerged as an influential international discussion platform for the current global economic and investment agenda, attended by major political and public figures, experts and analysts. We fully support cooperation with the forum. From the investment point of view this interaction provides great opportunities for networking and presenting our investment potential, including the privatization programme. Given the closeness of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, it is easier for a Russian investor to enter the investment projects of our country. Moreover, the bilateral dialogue significantly contributes to the consolidation of the partnership within the Eurasian Economic Union. At SPIEF 2018 we will also present the results of EXPO 2017 Astana infrastructure usage and its legacy.”

The Republic of Kazakhstan will showcase contemporary EXPO 2017 sites to the participants and guests of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, including the Astana International Finance Centre, the International Centre for Green Technology and Investment, and the Astana Hub – International Tech Park for IT Start-ups. 

Introducing the EXPO 2017 Astana legacy sites to the Forum participants will establish contacts with the Russian and international business community and discuss the potential for cooperation.

The Republic of Kazakhstan traditionally places a great emphasis on the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the event four times appraising it as one of the most significant event for the global economic community.
