Russian Minister of Natural Resources invites Zimbabwe delegation to SPIEF 2019

Moscow hosted the Russia–Zimbabwe Business Forum on 16 January. The forum was attended by Chairman of the Russian side of the Russian-Zimbabwe Intergovernmental Commission Dmitry Kobylkin and President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa, representatives of key ministries of the Republic of Zimbabwe as well as the heads of major Russian companies.

The main goal of the business forum was to search for new forms of cooperation between the two countries. Geology, the use of subsoil resources, agriculture, industrial cooperation, and energy were identified as key areas for joint activities.

Kobylkin said Russia views Zimbabwe as a key partner on the African continent and will continue to make efforts to improve the business climate between the two countries as well as assist its friendly people in solving socioeconomic problems.

“We will look for new points of interaction between Russia and Zimbabwe and create conditions to diversify cooperation. There is potential for this”, Kobylkin said.

Upon conclusion of the forum, Russian representatives invited an official delegation led by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and representatives of the country’s business community to take part in international dialogue platforms held in Russia, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held on 6–8 June 2019.
