SPIEF to Discuss Charity Development in Russia

A ‘Future of Charity: from Tactics to Strategy’ session, organized by the Deaf-blind Support Foundation So-edinenie (Con-nection) will be held as part of the SPIEF 2019 business programme. A meeting of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees will also take place at the Forum.

“Topics of social importance have attracted more and more attention not only from society but also from business and the state in recent years. It is becoming increasingly important that we consolidate efforts and determine the steps necessary for bringing about positive systemic changes. Charity drives positive changes of a systemic nature, and the traditional boundaries between sectors disappear. During the session, we will discuss how the nature and key goals of charitable activities will change over the coming decade, the roles played by the key agents of these changes, and what steps are possible on the part of the government, business, and foundations to achieve the desired development within the sector”, President of the Deaf-blind Support Foundation So-edinenie (Con-nection) Dmitry Polikanov said.

The Concept for the promotion of charitable activities in the Russian Federation is currently at the final stage of departmental approvals; this step was initiated by the NPO at a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the professional community as represented by the Donors Forum Association in partnership with the Roscongress Foundation has initiated foresight and other discussions aimed at developing collective priorities for the development of the charity sector involving various stakeholders and experts.

A meeting of the So-edinenie Foundation’s Board of Trustees will take place at SPIEF for the sixth year in a row. The Board includes more than 60 representatives from the cultural and business community, including Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank Herman Gref, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University Anatoly Aleksandrov, Archbishop of Sergiev-Posad, Superior of Holy Trinity St. Sergius Monastery Feognost, President of the Skolkovo Foundation Viktor Vekselberg, and Artistic Director of the State Academic Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev among
