ZaBeg.RF Included in SPIEF 2021 Sports Programme

ZaBeg.RF, a unique half-marathon with a simultaneous start across Russia, will bring together runners from 84 different cities for a fifth time. At 09:00 Moscow time over 100,000 people will participate in 1km, 5km, 10km, and 21km races.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum included the local start of the half-marathon in its sports and entertainment programme. The race starts and ends on Palace Square. The racing route runs near St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Chamber of Curiosities, Zayachiy Island. Athletes make their way back to Palace Square via Troitsky Bridge.

"I am sure that people who do sports are much more successful, energetic and organized when it comes to running their business. SPIEF is the main business event of the year. And I am happy that the sports component has become an integral part of the Forum," said Ksenia Shoigu, head of the League of Heroes project that organizes ZaBeg.RF.

The debut ZaBeg.RF half-marathon was held in 2017 in 10 cities across the country. In 2019 the synchronized start was already given in all subjects of the Russian Federation. In 2020, Zabeg.RF made it into the Guinness Book of Records. It is recognized as a half marathon that brings together the largest number of cities at the same time.

Additionally, the project features a competition for the title of Russia’s Running Capital. In 2017 and 2018 this title was awarded to Kazan, in 2019 to Vladivostok, and in 2020 to Nizhny Novgorod. The Running Capital of Russia is determined by three criteria: the average distance covered by all participants in the city, the ratio of ZaBeg participants to the total population of the city, and the average running speed of participants.

The sports and entertainment programme of SPIEF 2021 includes events in 12 kinds of sports. The programme is run by RC-Sport, the sports platform of the Roscongress Foundation. Detailed information on the events is available on the SPIEF website, under the ‘Sports Programme’ section, and in the personal web office of the participant.
