Karelia: State development institutions in the fairway of business
Petrozavodsk will host an offsite session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum titled ‘Russia’s Regions: New Areas of Growth’ on July 25, 2017 that will feature a discussion of mechanisms and programmes for the government to support private business. The event is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation jointly with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and Russian News Agency TASS. It will take place in the run-up to a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.
The main objective of the business session is to raise awareness among regional businesses about the mechanisms for co-financing investment projects through existing state programmes, introduce them to investment tools within existing development institutions, and inform them about other state support measures available to entrepreneurs in the regions of the Russian Federation.
The event participants will learn about the current programmes of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the All-Russian Public Organization Delovaya Rossiya, and the All-Russian Public Organization for Small and Medium-sized Business OPORA RUSSIA.
The offsite session will devote special attention to the aggregator of state support measures, which key development institutions called for establishing during the SPIEF 2017. At present, development institutions are providing regions with support for innovative and investment activities via regional development corporations, regional venture capital funds, and much more. However, businesses have not been able to take advantage of the opportunities available to them due to the difficulty of finding information about the specific measures available to an individual entrepreneur.
