Russia and the UAE discuss cooperation on infrastructure projects

Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, and UAE officials discussed cooperation on infrastructure projects, including in the construction of railways and paper mills.

“Today we discussed with the crown prince, the foreign minister and Arab investment funds a number of infrastructure projects in the field of railways, Rostec City – up to one million square metres at the old Tushino airport site, and pulp-and-paper mills,” said Manturov, head of the Russian delegation to the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi, at a press conference on Monday.

The minister said that four such mills would be built in Russia – in Siberia, the Far East and European Russia.

Manturov noted that the UAE had not shown much interest in civil aircraft made in Russia, as the country was mainly interested in long-range aircraft and used aeroplanes made by Boeing and Airbus.
