Russia is of tremendous strategic significance for both Italy and Europe as a whole, the Italian delegation noted. Its representative also stated that there is a desire ad intent in the Republic to develop traditional historical link of friendship and cooperation. This is required for economic development of Europe in general, for ensuring an equilibrium in the world and development of ties with Asia.

There are six hundred Italian companies operating on a permanent basis in various sectors of the Russian economy, from energy generation to agriculture and the fashion industry. Thanks to establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union, Italian investors have gained a tremendous space for operating.

In Italy, they are attentively monitoring the situation in Russian, the policies and decisions taken by the authorities and are interested in the processes of privatization in the Russian Federation.

The roundtable participants discussed participation by Russian and Italian companies in the trade, fuel and energy, pharmaceuticals, aviation and aerospace sectors. A strengthening of scientific and cultural ties was noted.

The speakers focused on the food industry. Italy is famed for its quality food products, the Russian representatives said. The Italians noted that their country did not have the vast arable lands and possibilities that Russia has. Even so, the Italian production technologies are highly developed. Some of them, in the footsteps of Italian farmers, are being successfully used in Russian agriculture.

Russia, in turn, represented by the Rostec State Corporation, is prepared to share with Italy a project for electronic government. This will allow the Italians to minimize personal impact on aspects of state management.
