On 21 August 2018 the Roscongress Foundation together with the Russian Export Centre and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives will host a field session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum ‘Russia’s Regions: New Areas of Growth. Investments in the Real Economy’ in Pskov. The session will continue the course of events expanding investment opportunities, developing the export potential of the regions and promoting specific territories.

The shaping of a cluster economy is the main theme of the business session. Today, the rapidly expanding number of cluster initiatives in both developing countries and cities illustrates their effectiveness and viability. In turn, regional development raises the level of the country’s economy competitiveness in general. The purpose of the discussion is to raise the awareness of regional business of the mechanisms for co-financing investment projects through existing state programmes. Russia today has institutions and mechanisms to support the development of industry: from attracting financing, finding and implementing technological solutions to assisting the search for local and international markets.

“The SPIEF field session is an opportunity to turn the attention of major business and federal agencies to the regional economy. We will discuss the institutions and mechanisms for supporting the development of production, including the opportunities for promoting Russian products abroad. Pskov Oblast will present its investment projects and export potential,” said Mikhail Vedernikov, Acting Governor of Pskov Oblast.

The field session will focus on creating awareness of state support measures for business. Participants of the plenary session will consider the following questions: How can we shed light for enterprises in the Russian regions onto global trends and the potential of integration into the production chains of international leaders? What opportunities does the government offer today to stimulate the establishment of new enterprises? What are the requirements for attracting investments into the real economy?
