SPIEF Cup 2024 show jumping tournament will be held as part of the Hipposphere exhibition

On 8 June, the eighth traditional show jumping tournament SPIEF Cup 2024 will be held at the international equestrian exhibition Hipposphere 2024. The event will traditionally be held as part of the sports programme of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The agreement was signed by Alexander Stuglev, Chairman and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation, and Sergey Voronkov, General Director of ExpoForum International (organizer of Hipposphere).

“Equestrian sport is now becoming popular and accessible, and horse breeding is gradually turning into an attractive business that can become a potential point of support for developers. But it is necessary to develop tools to attract investors and train professional personnel. The Roscongress Foundation, as a socially oriented non-financial development institution, already supports over 12 sports, including equestrian competitions, namely show jumping. Our task, together with our partners, is to increase human capital in this industry and to draw the attention of the government and the business community to the difficulties faced by market players,” noted Alexander Stuglev.

In addition, Hipposphere will host not only the tournament participants, but will also integrate into its programme a business track from Equestrian Discovery - a project to promote equestrian sport and a healthy lifestyle.

“It is symbolic that we signed an agreement with Roscongress in the year of ExpoForum’s tenth anniversary and the anniversary of the Hipposphere exhibition. It will be held for the 25th time. I am confident that our cooperation will be productive. Great prospects are opening up. Potentially, it is an opportunity to create in the country a unique product for tourists from friendly countries of the Middle East and Central Asia and to attract elites from these countries. Horse breeding is an integral part of local cultural traditions. For Russia, the equestrian industry is a huge underdeveloped market with great potential. Until 2022, we focused on European breeders, but now the domestic segment is developing more and more. Equestrian sport and equestrian clubs are growing in popularity, equestrian tourism and horse riding are becoming a new trend,” emphasized Sergey Voronkov.

Media representatives can register on the official website of SPIEF (forumspb.com/ru/registration/media) until 1 May.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place on 5–8 June 2024.
