Kazakhstan’s participation in Russian business events discussed in Moscow

A meeting between Adviser to the Russian President, Anton Kobyakov, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation, Yermek Kosherbayev, was held in Moscow. The parties had a substantive discussion on the topical aspects of bilateral trade and economic relations. Russia is Kazakhstan’s key partner in trade, being the number one importer in Kazakhstan and the 4th largest exporter of Kazakhstani products. In addition, the meeting participants discussed the creation of a joint project office between the countries and the participation of Kazakhstan’s delegation in multilateral international events, as well as the SCO and BRICS summits.

“Bilateral relations between Russia and Kazakhstan are characterized as a sustainable strategic partnership. Kazakhstan takes part in the largest Russian business events at the highest level. In order to develop trade and economic aspects of bilateral relations, we always provide our partners with information on Russia’s investment opportunities from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, and ensure that representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of both our countries interact on a wide range of issues,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

Over the past years, Kazakhstan has been actively involved in international events in Russia and annually held its own events as part of the business programme at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Yermek Kosherbaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Russia, noted that representatives of Kazakhstani business community highly value the practical focus of international business events held in Russia: “For our part, we plan to organize business missions of Kazakhstan to the Russian regions, so that entrepreneurs could have a substantive discussion on the interaction within specific business projects. This process will undoubtedly benefit from our delegation taking part in the Roscongress Foundation events: participation in Russian forums always results in meaningful meetings and signing of cooperation agreements.”

For reference: The 16th Russia–Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum themed ‘Hot Topics on the Development of Cross-Border Cooperation’ was held in Omsk in November 2019. The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. The Interregional Cooperation Forum is an effective platform for interaction between governments and businesses of Russia and Kazakhstan. Last year, the event was attended by more than 1,600 delegates from 24 regions of the Russian Federation and 10 regions of Kazakhstan.
