Investment appeal of Russian regions discussed on eve of ВRICS Summit in Xiamen (China)

The investment potential of the Russian regions was presented for the first time on September 4 as part of a business forum taking place at the BRICS Summit.

The session ‘Regional Economic Growth Led by BRICS Cooperation’, which was organized by the Roscongress Foundation in cooperation with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), was addressed by Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Sergey Morozov, Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District Natalya Komarova, Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region Vladimir Popov, Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Bashkortostan Sergey Novikov, Agency for Strategic Initiatives Director General Svetlana Chupsheva as well as Vice-Governor of Fujian Province Zhang Ciying and CCPIT Secretary General Yu Jianlong.

The participants discussed the investment appeal of Russian regions, joint projects between Russia and China as well as the development of contacts between representatives of the regions with the business community and investors from BRICS countries.

Agency for Strategic Initiatives Director General Svetlana Chupsheva said the session ‘Regional Economic Growth Led by BRICS Cooperation’ was an effective platform for discussing issues concerning the development of Russia’s regions and other countries which were first raised during panel sessions at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and the 'Russia's Regions: New Growth Areas' sessions organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Russian Export Center.
