Horizontal Linkages in the Young Entrepreneurial Community and Parallel Imports

17 Jun , 10:00–11:15
International Youth Economic Forum
Pavilion H, conference hall H22 (2nd floor)

In Russia, a new class of individuals has emerged among young people over the past decade. These individuals are eager to participate in traditional commercial activities by creating extensive networks of their own connections. Through their high level of international integration, they identify commercial interests within these connections and engage in the supply of goods. Prior to 2022, when sanctions pressure on Russia was absent, the full potential of this group of young entrepreneurs may have been less realized, as the markets were not as dynamic as they are today. However, since 2022, there has been a shift, allowing goods to be imported into Russia through alternative channels without the permission of rights holders. Considering the unique circumstances surrounding trade in goods under sanctions pressure, where direct agreements at the political level and administrative institutionalization methods are less effective, it has become essential to nurture a new wave of passionate entrepreneurs who can import relevant and technologically advanced goods. How can the market adapt to accommodate the emergence of new wholesale importers in the technological goods market? What factors should be considered when engaging with these new importers? How can we expand the pool of buyers by leveraging the involvement of young entrepreneurs to help stabilize prices? What strategies can be implemented to establish dependable alternative supply routes? In what ways can Russia utilize its existing parallel import channels to facilitate export agreements? How can we foster synergies between young parallel importers and start-ups/technology companies to provide domestic technology producers with export markets and distribution channels?
