Healthcare Entrepreneurship in the Changing Times

15 Jun , 10:00–11:30
‘Healthy Life’ Programme
Panel session
Pavilion F, Healthy Life Area

The global biotech and medical market reached an all-time high in 2021 (with over USD 79 billion in venture capital investment, according to Silicon Valley Bank), a record number of unicorns startups were founded, and investment in digital medicine more than doubled. The global venture capital market has already seen a major decrease in funding of 19% as of the second quarter of 2022 (according to CBInsights). Entrepreneurs and industries are currently facing a number of challenges: the disruption of technological chains, difficulties in production, changes in commercialization strategies, new models of cooperation and financing, and difficulties in entering the international arena. During the session, experts will discuss how venture capital has been transformed and where it’s going, what technologies are currently in demand among investors and the industry, how to support talented developers of medical technologies, what the target markets for international commercialization are, and whether domestic entrepreneurs can replace technologies that have left the country.
