Transformation of Libraries and Books in the Digital Era

05 Jun , 15:30–16:30
Qatar Pavilion, Doha Hall

In the era of digital transformation when motivation and reading habits are changing libraries play an important role in engaging people to read. Libraries are not just repositories for books, magazines and other materials, they are a source of knowledge and cultural heritage that people can get access to for free. The technology environment in libraries has provided a wonderful opportunity to preserve collections and enhance access to them through digitization. More than that, modern libraries are transforming into an attractive, secure and friendly place where all people are welcomed and provided with a comfortable space, 3d printers, workshops with all necessary equipment, wifi and other tech tools. At this session representatives of the Qatari and Russian national and electronic libraries together with larger Russian publishing houses will showcase their best practices in attracting and impacting the community.
