Innovative solutions, the realities of a post-COVID world, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution are putting enterprises on the fast track to a circular economy. A circular economy is an economic system based on the continual reuse of resources and the reduction of waste. When resources are limited, a circular economy becomes a sort of inevitability, part of a new reality, and is meant to apply to all sectors – from manufacturing and infrastructure to the service sector. Small and medium-sized businesses are poised to play an enormous role in these processes. This new challenge opens up new doors for such flexible organizations, which are capable of rapidly adopting and promoting innovative solutions and adapting to changing conditions. Italy's experience, where SMEs form the basis of the economy, could prove exceedingly valuable at this point in time.

He leads the strategic initiative on Circular Economy designed to support the distinctive positioning and ad hoc business activity of one of the most relevant European Financial Institutions in its capacity as Financial Services Global Partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. His team is responsible for, among other activities, the validation of eligibility criteria under the €6bn CE linked Credit Plafond and the open innovation projects of the CE Lab in Milan, in collaboration with Cariplo Factory On behalf of Intesa Sanpaolo, he has been designated to be part of the Circular Economy Financing Expert Group created by the European Commission in the context of the Circular Economy Finance Support Platform. He is also the author of ‘Re-think’ (2013) – a documentary about the need to reframe present global business models & the discourse about Climate Change.
