A musical by Frank Wildhorn in two acts and winner of the Golden Soffit Award. The Count of Monte Cristo centres on the young sailor Edmond Dantès, who on the day of his engagement with his beloved Mercédès, is imprisoned after being falsely accused of treason by his former friends.
He spends fourteen years in cruel confinement on an island in the Château d'If.
After his escape, the young man takes on a new name, the Count of Monte Cristo, and decides to take revenge on his enemies. The Russian version of the musical was staged by Miklós Gábor Kerényi (KERO), a long-time partner of the theatre.
