NUCLEAR ENERGY AFTER FUKUSHIMA

Following the earthquake in Japan leading to a major nuclear crisis, the international community is redoubling its efforts to assure nuclear energy is developed safely.

1) What is the future for the development of nuclear power worldwide? What is the role of the state in the development of individual countries’ national nuclear power?
2) What steps should governments take to ensure that the safety systems used in modern power plants are adequate?
3) What is the role of the IAEA in strengthening the international legal framework for nuclear and radiation safety?
