John Defterios is CNN's Emerging Markets Editor and anchor of Global Exchange, CNN's new prime time business show focused on the emerging and BRIC markets. John has also been the anchor of 'CNN Marketplace Middle East', since 2007, a weekly business programme featuring in-depth analysis and top newsmakers from across the Middle East. Defterios has more than two decades of financial news and current affairs experience covering some of the landmarks events during that period including the Gulf War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the World Trade Centre bombings and G8/G20 summits from his postings in London, Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Rome and the Middle East. He is a World Economic Forum media leader and member of the Global Agenda Council on the Arab World and has served as Chairman of the Business Week Leadership Forums in London, Beijing and New York, the World Islamic Economic Forum amongst others. Defterios started at CNN in New York as correspondent on "Moneyline with Lou Dobbs", anchored CNN's "World Business Today" and the top rated U.S. morning business program "Ahead of the Curve". Walid A. Chammah is currently acting as a Senior Advisor to Morgan Stanley. He was a Co-President of Morgan Stanley and Chairman of Morgan Stanley International until early 2012. Mr Chammah graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1976 and received a Masters Degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management in 1977. In 2011, Mr Chammah was awarded the Thunderbird School of Global Management (formerly the American Graduate School of International Management) Alumni Career Achievement Award. Mr Chammah sits on the Boards of the American University of Beirut where he serves on the Executive Committee and is the Chair of the Audit Committee; the British American Business Council; IMF’s Financial Institutions Consultative Group; Expert Committee for the World Economic Forum; the international advisory board of HEC Montreal and advisory board member of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Mr Chammah also serves on the board of Acajou Films, a movie production company based in Paris.

Pupil at School No. 25 in Moscow from 1992–2002. Studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at Lomonosov Moscow State University from 2002. Graduated in 2007 with a Specialist Degree. Currently Chairman at the Moscow Society for the Study of Religions at the Faculty of Philosophy at Moscow State University, as well as Chairman at the Moscow Society for the Study of Religions. Editor-in-chief of the Moscow e-Journal of Religion. The Centre for the Study of Religion at the Russian State University of Humanities (RSUH) teaches courses in Religious Anthropology and Early Forms of Religious Consciousness.

In 1998, graduated with honours from Moscow State Institute of International Relations MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Candidate of Political Sciences: defended degree thesis “Strategy and Military Aspects of State Security and Military Political Science” at the Academy of Military Sciences. Worked at research and analytical structures from 1997. Involved in various working groups tasked with developing political recommendations on Russian foreign and defence policy. From 2003, Associate Professor of Global Political Processes at MGIMO. From 2007, he has published the analytical journal “Big Game: Politics, Business and Security in Central Asia”. From 2008, elected Professor of the Academy of Military Sciences. From 2011, took over Centre for the Study of Current Security Problems at Institute of International Research at MGIMO. Safranchuk is the author of more than 40 scientific and analytical reports on Russian foreign and defence policy, energy policy and the problems facing Central Asia and Afghanistan.
