The port city of Kronstadt is the most remote suburb of St. Petersburg, which was founded by Peter the Great as a defensive naval outpost. Its location was ideal for the development of technology and seamanship. The city is home to more than 300 scientific inventions and industrial achievements.
Sightseers will visit the Nikolsky Naval Cathedral, Anchor Square, the Island of Forts Museum and Historical Park, which uses art to recap the three-hundred-year history of the Russian fleet through the eyes of outstanding naval commanders and navigators, and Konstantin Fort, one of the largest former artillery forts of Kronstadt with batteries, barracks, a rangefinder pavilion, and other fortifications that still exist to this day.
